Upward Basketball is a Youth
Basketball League for Boys and Girls, 1st. Grade through 6th. Grade. It was
started in Spartensburg, South Carolina in 1986 with 25 players. Sixteen years
later there are over 250,000 players throughout the United States.
Ryans Creek Baptist Church also participates in this exciting Upward program! We began registration for
this years season on November 1, 2009. Registration ends on December 31, 2009.
The cost was $50 per child. Our evaluation dates are on Tuesday, November 17,
2009 from 6pm till 8:00 pm and Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 6pm till
8:00 pm. Every player has to attend one evaluation. The practices for Upward begin on Monday, January 18,
2010. The first game is Saturday, January 30, 2010. There is a concession stand
run by the church and all the proceeds will be put back into Upward Basketball. Come and watch the games
and enjoy the devotions given at each half-time. You're guaranteed to be
blessed and have a great time. Our awards night will be Sunday, March 21, 2010.
Every player will receive:
Star awards after each practice
and game
Green represents practice
attendance and verse memorization
Blue represents Best Effort during the game
Gold represents Best Sportsmanship during the game
Gray represents Best Offense during the game
Red represents Best Defense during the game
White represents Christlikeness during the game
- An end of the year award
at the Award Night Event.
Upward promotes
characterd self-esteem in every child by providing:

every player
- Separate leagues for boys
and girls
- A one-hour practice and
game each week of the season
- An evaluation process to
provide equal opportunity for improvement
